Road trip: Bangalore to Hyderabad | Ramoji Film City | Char Minar | Hussain Sagar Lake
If you are an addict for the road trips, then you can't miss the long drive from Bangalore to Hyderabad. No doubt it's one of the best highway in India, with very few humps and villages on the way, it makes the use of Cruise control an useful feature.

Being a heavy sleeper, it's a tough call for me to respond to the alarm in the early morning. This time, it was a different scenario, i got up before the alarm as couldn't contain the excitement of being on the road. I left at 5:45AM from the Bangalore and could touched the highway within an hour. The weather was pleasant , but it started drizzling soon. All the hard work of washing and waxing my #NighFurry before the trip wasn't appreciated by the Rain God :(
To make sure we reached Hyd around lunch time, we just took two small breaks. Its approximately 600 KM from Bangalore to Hyd, so we made 2 stops each after 200 KM. It just took 7 and half hours to reach Hyderabad, thanks to the constant speed of the 120 KMPH.
The old city of Hyd has its own charm, whether it's finger licking food, architecture landmarks or the hyderabadi language. We first visited to the Charminar, the streets are so crowded that you can't see your feets. I would suggest to hire Taxi/Auto to the nearest place before you explore the area on the foot, as it's too congested to take a risk of driving on these roads.
When it's come to shopping, it's only pearls and jewellery item on the menu. You may have to bargain a lot to get a good deal.
After finishing the tour of the local market, we paid a visit to the Hussain Sagar Lake and Birla Temple as well. The roads leading to the temple are so skinny, it may give complex to the Deepika Padukone :) So try to get a taxi till nearest point before you enjoy the evening walk to the temple. Mobile phones and cameras aren't allowed in the temple, so better to leave in the lockers or personal vehicle.
Next day, we spend a whole day at Ramoji Film City. We took the outer ring road to reach the Film City. I must say as compared to Bangalore's ORR , this feels like i am driving in Europe :)
The ticket cost is around 1000 per person and can be paid by card/cash. It has a huge parking space which just cost around 50 Rs for a day. Once you get a ticket, you will be taken to the main Campus of the film City using a bus (which is free of charge)
There are so many things to see and experience in the Film City, so entire day should be reserved for this outing. I would suggest to finish the experience like Wild West Show and Film City Spirit Dance show, which are near to the Eureka (dropping point of the bus). You can enjoy the Kids zone (Fundustan) too, which has few attraction for adult too. You may enjoy few minutes inside Horror house a.k.a Borasura
Once you are done with above activities, treat yourself with a yummy lunch before you take the Tour bus for the Film City.
The film city tour will take around 2 hours , which also includes walk through Bird Park and japanese Garden. You will be amazed to see all the sets and the stories behind them, as so many famous movies like Munna Bhai, Bahubali, Dilwale, Chennai Express, Singham etc were shot on those exclusive sets.
The bird park is filled with lot of parrots and other rare species, you may get to see few butterflies too.
By the time we finished the tour, it was almost 4 PM. So we thought of enjoying few rides. The carousels and other ride was free of charge, whereas you need to buy ticket worth of 50 RS for activities like Crashing Car or bullfiight.
Overall, the 3 days road trip to the Hyd seems to be a good idea for spending a long weekend. I hope you get to experience it soon.
